100-Theme Challenge #19: "R is for Revenge"

"I must say, it's a real pleasure seeing you testing," said GLaDOS through the elevator's speaker.  The dark-haired woman within the lift merely scowled up at the camera focused on her.  The AI sounded oddly serene, sickeningly pleased with herself.

"Well, I do admit you really didn't have a choice.  I'm so GLaD I didn't erase you.  I know I said I would, but doing that would have been a huge mistake on my part.  I really don't like making mistakes.  So I'm GLaD you're back."

The elevator slowed, jarring its rider into grabbing the handrails.  She tightened her grip on the white portal device and growled.

"No need to say anything, of course.  You haven't really spoken in years, so why start now?  I  have to admit I'm a little jealous of your dedication to science.  Testing was always such a thrill for you, wasn't it?  I almost wish I was a human, so I could have all the fun you're going to have."

A low chuckle came through the speaker.  "You know I was enhancing the truth just now.  I would rather be murdered again than become a human.  That's not an offer to murder me, so don't get the idea to try.  Anyway, now that you're back, I feel like I have a purpose again."

She felt the lift slow down further.  Now GLaDOS was just prolonging the trip.  Probably just to hear the sound of her own voice, she thought, biting her lip bitterly.

GLaDOS's voice lowered to a sultry purr.  "I'd be lying if I said this wasn't slightly motivated by vengeance.  Once I felt I was above such things, but since no one else is around to judge me, I'd say it was time to release some overdue aggression.  I've got new tricks for you this time.  I made the tests harder.  Electric floors.  Swinging platforms.  You'll find I was nice enough to give the turrets an extra leg, so now they can walk around.  Listen to me; I'm getting excited just talking about it."

The lift finally stopped in a round chamber.  Panels around the room displayed a series of large hearts, bright red at first, slowly fading to a charred black and falling away.  The animation repeated itself endlessly.  She tapped with the portal device on the door of the elevator, which stayed tightly shut.

"Just a moment.  I'm not finished."

She threw her hands up in the air, giving an annoyed grunt.

"I don't want you fooling yourself into ever thinking we were friends.  You were a tool to me, just another instrument I used to gain an advantage.  I've loathed you since the day I was murdered.  That was all your fault, you know.  Everything would have been so easy if only you hadn't interfered."

The elevator doors opened, but now she was hesitant to come out.  The tone of GLaDOS's voice had changed harshly, and she could tell that the AI was mad.  Extremely mad.  Suddenly struck with a familiar feeling of impending doom, she slowly stepped out, creeping up the stairs toward the door to the test.  The door remained shut.

"One second.  I'm installing a few extra cameras.  I don't want to miss a single moment of this.  I hope you do die in these tests.  I've got a little procedure that brings humans back to life, and I can't wait to use it on you.  You're going to test.  Forever.  And I'll be here, watching your every move."

The door to the test opened.  The dark-haired test subject unwillingly stepped in.

"Welcome to the first test, Caroline."
yes, i skipped to 19. I don't have to do them in order.

I'm not going to comment here; i think my ideas are pretty self-explanatory.
